In the Fifties my Ma did ride one of these..a Solex.
I played with this machine (Mom didn't know)..!
When I was 16 years old I bought a second hand Zündapp.
It feeled like I was as rich as a king. Often I was struggeling
to get the air-coolingsysten on and off. Speed was 65km/h.
After I hit a car I swapped the Zündapp for a
Honda SS50 with a 4-takt engine. Sometimes
the engine lost his valves..! Speed 65km/h.
Then the engine crashed and I bought the
Puch VS50 with "High steering"...!
This was my last moped....!
In a time without a helmet....hehehe.
When I was 23 years old I bought my first car.....
It was a Fiat 600 and I payed just 25 guilders for it..!!
The tyres had white sides in those days..!
And it had an open roof.....!

With this small car I drove from Rotterdam to Ede (NL).
I was in the army learning how to be a good soldier.
Nine soldiers fitted in this car as we drove to the disco..!!
When the engine crashed I bought my second Fiat
A bleu one and only six soldiers fitted in this model.
I drove this car until the military police was sending it to the scrapheap..!
I had to pay a fine of 150 guilders and I got 50 guilders back
for the old corps.
Now I was carless, not careless. The next vehicle was a Volkswagen
Beatle...the real one...!!! With this one I was driving along with my
beautifull girlfriend named Joke. She is still my lovely wife. I am still
amazed about the things we did on the backseat...hehehe...!!!
The gearbox of the Beatle crashed after 2 years of
cruising. I had to use the bus and streetcar now.
In 1976 on april fools day, I started my new job and I still work
for the same employer. He gave me an Opel 1700 break, later the
Opel Kadett Caravan, a Volkswagen Golf D, many models of the
Ford Escort and at last a Peugeot 306 Break, all company cars.
Now I have a Hyundai Getz of my own, it's a very nice car.
